The Hyundai Bayon is a 4.2-metre petrol-only SUV that Hyundai will launch in India on 26 October 2026, and the real question for buyers is whether to book it, buy a Venue, or stretch to a Creta. Hyundai has confirmed the booking amount, the engine and the launch date, but not the price, so no one can answer that question yet with certainty. This page is the written companion to our video, and it separates what Hyundai has confirmed about the Hyundai Bayon from what is only reported, so you can decide before 26 October.

Watch the full video above for our Venue vs Bayon vs Creta take. Below is the full written version with the facts checked against Hyundai’s own releases.
What the video covers
- What the Hyundai Bayon actually is, and which buyer it targets.
- Size against the Venue and the Creta.
- The 1.5-litre petrol engine with manual and IVT gearboxes, and the diesel and CNG question.
- The generative-AI voice assistant and the dual 12.3-inch screens.
- Safety, ADAS and premium features such as the sunroof and wireless charging.
- The expected price and the ₹11,000 booking decision.
- Venue vs Bayon vs Creta: which one makes sense.
Hyundai Bayon at a glance
- Launch: 26 October 2026, per Hyundai’s 12 October release. Deliveries are expected to begin in the festive season.
- Booking: ₹11,000, open online and at dealers since 23 September.
- Engine: 1.5-litre petrol, 115 PS and 144 Nm, with a 6-speed manual or an IVT automatic.
- Price: not announced. Estimates range from about ₹9 lakh to ₹17.5 lakh.
- Diesel: not offered or expected. CNG: unconfirmed.
What Hyundai has confirmed
According to Hyundai’s 12 October release, the Bayon runs a 1.5-litre MPi petrol engine with 115 PS and 144 Nm. The gearbox choices are a 6-speed manual and an IVT, which is Hyundai’s CVT-style automatic. The cabin has dual curved 12.3-inch displays and what Hyundai calls its first generative-AI voice assistant, built with Perplexity and SoundHound, and Autocar Pro says it works in English only. Hyundai’s Bluelink connected-car system offers 70-plus features, and the car supports over-the-air updates. The earlier 23 September release says the car is built on the Global K Enhanced Platform and engineered “for 5-star Indian safety standards”. That is an engineering aim, not a result, because there is no Bharat NCAP rating yet.
Size: Venue vs Bayon vs Creta
Hyundai calls the Bayon a “4.2m long mid-size SUV”, which places it between the sub-4-metre Venue and the larger Creta. CarDekho reports figures of 4,245 mm long, 1,810 mm wide, 1,570 mm tall, with a 2,600 mm wheelbase and a 440-litre boot, but it says those are European-spec numbers and the India car may differ. By those figures the Bayon is about 230 mm longer than the Venue and about 85 mm shorter than the Creta, which is our subtraction and not an official comparison. Wheelbase matters for rear-seat room, so check it at launch.
Features: confirmed vs reported
| Feature | Status |
|---|---|
| Dual 12.3-inch screens | Confirmed by Hyundai |
| Generative-AI voice assistant, Bluelink, OTA updates | Confirmed by Hyundai |
| Level-2 ADAS, 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats | Reported by CarDekho, not in Hyundai’s releases |
| Wireless phone charger, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bose audio | Reported by CarDekho |
| Sunroof | Likely, type not confirmed |
| Six airbags, ESC, TPMS | Likely, not confirmed |
We could not find ambient lighting confirmed in any source we checked, even though our video mentioned it, so treat it as unconfirmed. Everything in the “reported” rows should be treated as a wish list until the full variant list arrives on launch day.
Price: why nobody knows yet
Hyundai has not announced the price. Outlets disagree widely: Autocar India expects roughly ₹9 to ₹14 lakh, ZigWheels guesses ₹10 to ₹12.5 lakh, and CarDekho says ₹10 to ₹17.5 lakh. For comparison, Autocar India lists the Venue from about ₹8.92 lakh and the Creta from about ₹12.66 lakh, so the Bayon is expected to land between them. If it starts near ₹10 lakh, as we said in the video, it fills a real gap. If it starts nearer ₹12 lakh, the Creta looks stronger.
Who should choose the Venue, the Bayon or the Creta?
The Bayon is petrol only, with a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre engine and no turbo or diesel. If you need a diesel or a turbo-petrol, the Venue or the Creta are the cars to look at. The Creta also has a larger body and more engine choices, including an electric version. The next-generation Creta is expected around early 2027, according to Autocar India, which is a reason some buyers may prefer to wait rather than buy the current model at full price.
A note on our video
Our video said the Bayon would have dual 12.3-inch screens as an “expected” feature, and Hyundai has since confirmed them. We described ADAS, the sunroof, ambient lighting and wireless charging as part of the package, but Hyundai’s releases mention none of them, and CarDekho reports ADAS, the sunroof and wireless charging only as unofficial. We said the car was “coming” with a festive-season arrival, which is correct for deliveries, and the launch is now dated 26 October. The “Venue, Creta or wait” question in the title is valid, but the price and variants that decide it are still to come.
Should you book the Hyundai Bayon now?
Book now if you are sure you want a petrol automatic SUV of about this size, and you are comfortable with a refundable deposit before knowing the price. Check the refund terms in writing before you pay ₹11,000.
Wait until 26 October if price will decide it, which it usually does. The launch is only 12 days away, and the Venue and Creta prices may move when the Bayon price is known. We have not driven the Bayon, and this page uses Hyundai’s releases and published reports. We will update it with prices and variants on launch day. Watch the full video if you want our verdict in Hinglish, then see upcoming cars, the videos page and this week’s launches. For more on how it differs from the Creta, see Autocar India’s comparison.
