The Mahindra XUV700 continues to be a popular choice in the Indian car market, thanks to its safe build quality. A recent accident involving an SUV and a public bus showed that even after a rear-end collision, the XUV700 suffered only minor scratches and no major damages. The Mahindra XUV700 has received a 5-star rating in the Global NCAP crash tests and is available in India with 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol or 2.2-litre diesel engine and 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.
In one of the YouTube videos of Prateek Singh, we can see a Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) rear-ending a Mahindra XUV700, with the entire accident caught live in its rear camera. In the video, we can see how the bus collided with the XUV700 when the latter applied brakes while moving in front of the bus in the middle of the road.
It is clear from the video that the Mahindra XUV700 driver did not apply brakes in a hurry. However, it looks like the bus driver was driving fast, and due to a loss of control, it collided with the rear left-hand side of the XUV700. In the video, we can also see that the left-side tail lamp of the XUV700 broke and fell on the road due to the impact of the accident.
No major damages in XUV700
Despite facing significant impacts, the only noticeable damage to the rear is some scratches on the tailgate and bumper. This is a testament to the durability of the plastic tailgate, which has proven to be capable of absorbing heavy impacts. The safety and strength of the XUV700 continue to defy earlier doubts and speculations about its plastic tailgate.
XUV700 has 5-star safety rating
The Mahindra XUV700 is one of the safest SUVs on sale in the Indian car market. Showing Mahindra’s prowess and commitment to making safe vehicles, the XUV700 has already scored a commendable 5-star rating in the Global NCAP crash tests. Right now, the XUV700 is available in India with two choices of powertrain – 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol and 2.2-litre diesel – both of which are being offered with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions.
The XUV700 is not the only Mahindra vehicle to have won a 5-star rating to date, as previously, the XUV300 has been awarded the same. In addition, a couple of other Mahindras, like Marazzo and Thar, have also shown their prowess in build quality and safety by scoring 4-star ratings in the crash tests.
