The Mahindra Thar Roxx on-road price starts at about ₹14.8 lakh in Delhi and Greater Noida and climbs to roughly ₹28 lakh for the top diesel automatic 4×4. That is a ₹13 lakh spread, so the number on the showroom quote depends far more on the trim you pick than on the city you live in. This guide breaks the price down trim by trim for two cities, shows how the figure is built from ex-showroom, registration and insurance, and explains which variants make sense.

Quick facts: Thar Roxx price at a glance

  • Starting ex-showroom price: ₹12,52,000 for the MX1 2WD petrol manual, as listed by CarWale.
  • Mahindra’s own range: Mahindra’s Thar Roxx page shows ₹12.52 lakh to ₹23.52 lakh. It does not label the range as ex-showroom, but the starting figure matches CarWale’s ex-showroom price.
  • On-road price in Delhi: ₹14.82 lakh to ₹28.09 lakh.
  • On-road price in Greater Noida: ₹14.89 lakh to ₹27.67 lakh.
  • Variants: 21 on Autocar India’s list, 28 on CarWale. The difference is how each site counts trims and options.
  • Engines: 2.0-litre turbo petrol and 2.2-litre turbo diesel, with manual and automatic gearboxes.

All on-road figures in this guide come from CarWale’s Delhi and Greater Noida pages and Autocar India’s variant list, checked on 15 October 2026. Neither CarWale page carries an update date, so treat every number as a snapshot, not a quote.

Thar Roxx on-road price by trim

CarWale groups the Thar Roxx into seven trims and gives an on-road range for each one, because the engine, gearbox and drive choice moves the price inside every trim. Here is how the two cities compare.

Trim (variants) Greater Noida on-road Delhi on-road
MX1 (2) ₹14.89 – 16.87 lakh ₹14.82 – 17.14 lakh
MX3 (3) ₹18.25 – 21.20 lakh ₹18.16 – 21.53 lakh
MX5 (6) ₹19.70 – 23.08 lakh ₹19.59 – 23.43 lakh
AX3 L (1) ₹20.58 lakh ₹20.90 lakh
Star Edition (3) ₹21.24 – 22.99 lakh ₹21.57 – 23.34 lakh
AX5 L (3) ₹22.91 – 25.52 lakh ₹23.26 – 25.91 lakh
AX7 L (10) ₹23.03 – 27.67 lakh ₹23.45 – 28.09 lakh

Neither city is simply cheaper. Greater Noida costs slightly more on the cheapest MX1 and less on the top AX7 L, most likely because registration and insurance are calculated differently in the two states. The gap is small: under ₹50,000 at every point in the table. If you live in a third city, expect your figure to land close to these but not on them.

How the on-road price is built

The on-road price is not a single charge. It is the ex-showroom price plus registration (RTO), insurance and a few smaller items. CarWale shows the full breakup only for the base MX1 2WD petrol manual, and it is the clearest way to see where the money goes.

MX1 2WD petrol manual Greater Noida Delhi
Ex-showroom price ₹12,52,000 ₹12,52,000
Registration (RTO) ₹1,45,720 ₹1,37,200
Insurance ₹78,372 ₹79,733
Other charges ₹13,020 ₹13,020
On-road price ₹14,89,112 ₹14,81,953

On this trim the extras add ₹2.37 lakh in Greater Noida and ₹2.30 lakh in Delhi, which is about 18 to 19 percent on top of the ex-showroom price. Registration is the biggest piece and insurance the second. Both scale with the price of the car, so on an expensive variant the extras grow too. CarWale’s FAQ lists some of these charges differently, for example corporate registration and a tax collected at source, so use the table for orientation and ask the dealer for an itemised quote.

Variants: what you can actually choose

Autocar India’s list, updated on 13 October 2026, shows the shape of the line-up. Six variants are petrol and fifteen are diesel. Every petrol Thar Roxx on that list is two-wheel drive. Four-wheel drive appears only with the diesel engine, on four variants: the MX5 manual, the AX5 L automatic and the AX7 L in both manual and automatic.

  • Cheapest way in: the MX1, available as a petrol manual and a diesel manual, with rear-wheel drive only.
  • First automatic: the MX3, offered with a petrol automatic and a diesel automatic.
  • Cheapest 4×4: the MX5 diesel manual, which is also the priciest MX5 on Autocar India’s list. The whole MX5 band runs to ₹23.08 lakh in Greater Noida and ₹23.43 lakh in Delhi, so expect a 4×4 quote near the top of it.
  • Top of the range: the AX7 L, which has ten variants on CarWale and carries the highest on-road figures in both cities.

We have not included mileage or power figures here, because the sources we checked disagree with each other. We would rather leave a number out than print one that may be wrong.

Which Thar Roxx should you buy?

This is a price-led view based on the variant structure, not a drive impression, because we have not driven the car for this guide.

  • Lowest cost to buy: the MX1 diesel or petrol manual, at roughly ₹15 to ₹17 lakh on-road in both cities.
  • City use with an automatic: start from the MX3, the first trim to get a gearbox without a clutch.
  • Real off-road ability: you need a diesel 4×4, so budget for the MX5 manual at the very least.
  • Top of the range: the AX7 L, but check the quote carefully, because it spans nearly ₹5 lakh between its cheapest and costliest variants.

Should you wait? The update spied on the Thar Roxx

We have reported on a possible update, with changes spotted on a test car, in our story on the Thar Roxx update spied with OG alloys and DaVinci dampers. Mahindra has not announced a launch date or any price change for it. If the spied changes matter to you, waiting is a fair choice, but there is nothing official to wait for yet. If you need the car now, the prices above are what dealers are quoting today. Watch our Shorts feed and the car news section for the next update.

How to get a better deal

  • Ask for an itemised on-road quote from at least two dealers in your city.
  • Compare the insurance line separately. It is the one charge you can often shop around for.
  • Check for festive-season offers, which change month to month and are not part of the numbers above.
  • Remember that optional packages and accessories cost extra and are not in these figures.

Thar Roxx price FAQs

What is the Thar Roxx on-road price in Delhi?

What is the ex-showroom price of the Mahindra Thar Roxx?

The Thar Roxx starts at ₹12.52 lakh ex-showroom for the MX1 petrol manual. Mahindra’s website shows a range of ₹12.52 lakh to ₹23.52 lakh, although it does not label the range as ex-showroom.

Which Thar Roxx variants have four-wheel drive?

On Autocar India’s list, four variants have 4×4: the MX5 diesel manual, the AX5 L diesel automatic, and the AX7 L diesel in manual and automatic. No petrol Thar Roxx with 4×4 appears on that list.

Why does the Thar Roxx price change from city to city?

Registration and insurance are calculated on the price of the car and by state rules, so the same variant costs a different amount in different cities. The ex-showroom price is the same everywhere, but the on-road price is not.

How many Thar Roxx variants are there?

Autocar India lists 21 variants and CarWale lists 28. The gap comes from how the two sites count trims, colours and options, so ask the dealer for the exact variant code before comparing quotes.

We will update this guide when Mahindra changes the prices or announces the update, and we will say so at the top when it happens.
