Tata Tiago facelift hatchback next to a Maruti Swift

The Tata Tiago facelift is not a “next-gen” car and it is not upcoming: it launched on 28 May 2026 at ₹4.69 lakh ex-showroom, about three weeks before our video about it went up. Our video called it a next-generation Tiago and suggested it would end the Maruti Swift. It is a facelift on the same platform with the same 1.2-litre engine, a smaller and cheaper car than the Swift, and the claim that it “destroys” the Swift is clickbait. This guide covers the Tata Tiago facelift’s prices, variants and features, how it really compares with the Swift, and which claims in our video need correcting.

Watch the full video above for our Hinglish walkthrough. The written version below checks each claim against launch reports.

What the video covers

  • The Tiago facelift’s unveiling and design changes.
  • Engine and power against the Maruti Swift, WagonR and Celerio.
  • The twin-cylinder CNG set-up and the automatic gearbox on CNG.
  • Features such as the touchscreen, digital cluster, wireless charging, 360-degree camera and Type-C charging.
  • Safety features and price against the Swift.

Tata Tiago facelift at a glance

  • Launched: 28 May 2026.
  • Price: ₹4.69 lakh to ₹8.55 lakh ex-showroom at launch, per Autocar India.
  • Engine: 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol, 86 PS and 113 Nm, and a CNG version of about 75 PS.
  • Gearboxes: five-speed manual or five-speed AMT, including on CNG.
  • Safety: six airbags, ESC and hill hold are standard.

Tiago facelift prices and variants

These are introductory ex-showroom prices from Autocar India’s launch report. Tata announced price rises of up to ₹25,000 across its passenger cars from 1 September 2026, and we could not find the Tiago-specific amount, so check the current price with a dealer.

Pure 5.49 6.00 6.49 7.05
Pure+ 5.99 6.55 6.99 7.55
Pure+ A 6.49 7.05 7.49 8.05

Creative+ (petrol only) 7.29 7.85 Not offered Not offered

Features and safety

Per the launch reports from Autocar India, CarDekho and Rushlane, the car has a 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 5-inch semi-digital cluster, wireless charging with dual wireless pads on the Creative+ trim, and a 65W Type-C charger on higher trims. The Creative trim gets a 360-degree camera with a blind-view monitor, which CarDekho calls a segment first, and the CNG automatic has paddle shifters, which Autocar India calls a segment first. Six airbags, ESC, hill hold, ABS with EBD, TPMS, rear parking sensors and ISOFIX are standard. We found no Global NCAP or Bharat NCAP rating for the facelift, so do not assume a star rating.

Engine, mileage and the CNG set-up

The 1.2-litre three-cylinder makes 86 PS and 113 Nm on petrol, and sources differ slightly on the CNG figures, so “about 75 PS” is the safe wording. Tata has not published an ARAI mileage for the facelift in any report we found. The older Tiago’s CNG ratings were around 26 to 28 km/kg, but do not assume the facelift matches. Our video said the twin-cylinder CNG layout, with the cylinders under the boot floor, keeps boot space. That is partly right, because the layout is correct, but one review says the cylinders still cut into the boot, and we did not find a boot figure for the CNG car. The petrol boot is 242 litres.

Tata Tiago facelift vs Maruti Swift

The two cars are in different price bands. Per CarDekho’s comparison, the Swift costs about ₹5.8 lakh to ₹8.8 lakh, though sources differ after a price rise. The base Tiago is about ₹1.09 lakh cheaper, and the top Swift costs about ₹25,000 more than the top Tiago, so the gap shrinks as you go up.

Tata Tiago facelift Maruti Swift
Length 3,813 mm 3,860 mm
Wheelbase 2,400 mm 2,450 mm
Boot (petrol) 242 litres 265 litres
Petrol power 86 PS, 113 Nm 82 PS, 112 Nm
CNG gearbox Manual and AMT Manual only
Touchscreen 10.25 inch 9 inch
360 camera Yes, on Creative No, rear camera only

The Tiago has more power on petrol and a bigger screen, and it offers an automatic CNG. The Swift is a bigger car with a larger boot and, per CarDekho, a better claimed mileage of about 25.35 km/l on petrol and 35.07 km/kg on CNG. Choosing between them comes down to size and price, and not a “winner”.

The Aeris is the other new Tata

If you like the Tiago but want a boot, note that Tata launched the Aeris compact sedan, the replacement for the Tigor, on 25 September 2026 from ₹5.29 lakh. It uses the same 1.2-litre petrol. We compared it with the Punch in our Punch vs Aeris guide.

A note on our video

Our video called this the “next-gen” Tiago facelift. It is a facelift, and it launched on 28 May, not later. The video said the Tiago has “84.82 bhp, 4.36 bhp more than the Swift”. 86 PS is about 84.8 bhp, which is right, but the Swift’s 82 PS is about 80.9 bhp, so the gap is nearer 3.9 bhp. It gave the screen as 10.24 inches, and the correct figure is 10.25. It said the Tiago is cheaper by ₹80,000 to ₹1.7 lakh. At entry level it is about ₹1.09 lakh cheaper, and at the top the Swift is the dearer car by only about ₹25,000. We found no source for a rollover-mitigation feature or an illuminated steering-wheel logo, and the “tin-can” and “structural loha” remarks are unsupported, since no crash rating exists yet. The “Swift khatam” title is clickbait.

Should you buy the Tiago facelift?

Buy it if you want the cheapest car in this class with six airbags, a 360-degree camera on higher trims and an automatic CNG option. Choose the Swift if you want a bigger car with a larger boot and a higher claimed mileage, and can pay for it. We have not driven either car, and this page uses launch reports and published specifications. Watch the full video for our walkthrough, and see the videos page and comparisons. The comparison figures come from CarDekho’s Tiago vs Swift comparison.
