Festive cars decorated with marigold garlands and diyas for Diwali 2026 offers

Diwali 2026 car offers are strong on some models and almost non-existent on others, and several of the cars in our August video have changed since: the Baleno and Brezza have been facelifted, prices have gone up, and the Duster Hybrid is about to be priced. Diwali falls on Sunday 8 November, with Dhanteras on Friday 6 November and Dussehra on 20 October. This page is the written companion to our video, updated to 14 October 2026. It covers whether to buy now or wait, which brands raised prices, what each popular car offers this month, and what to ask the dealer before you pay.

Watch the full video above for our original shortlist. The written version below has been rechecked for what has changed since August.

What the video covers

  • A Diwali 2026 buying strategy, and whether booking locks the price.
  • Hatchbacks and compact SUVs from ₹6 to ₹20 lakh, the Swift, Grand i10 Nios, Baleno, Punch, Exter, Nexon, Brezza, XUV 3XO, Creta and Grand Vitara.
  • The Duster Hybrid wait, and the Ertiga against the Carens Clavis.
  • How to get a better deal from the dealer.

Diwali 2026 car offers at a glance

  • Dates: Dussehra 20 October, Dhanteras 6 November, Diwali 8 November.
  • Price hikes already in force: Maruti up to ₹30,000 from August, Tata up to ₹25,000 from 1 September, Hyundai up to 1 percent from 1 September.
  • November hikes: none announced in the reports we found.
  • Most offers are valid until 31 October, and vary by city and stock.

Has the price gone up?

Yes, at several brands. Maruti announced a rise of up to ₹30,000 from August, and one source mentions a further rise of up to ₹20,000 on select models in September, but we found only one weak source for that. Tata raised prices by up to ₹25,000 across the Tiago, Tigor, Punch, Nexon, Curvv, Sierra, Harrier, Safari and Altroz from 1 September, its second rise in about two months. Hyundai raised prices by up to 1 percent from 1 September, and Mahindra raised the XUV 3XO petrol by up to ₹30,000 in July. So the video’s warning about September increases was right.

Diwali 2026 car offers on the cars in our video

All figures are “up to” maximums, with sources noted, and only ex-showroom prices are quoted.

Car October 2026 position
Hyundai Grand i10 Nios Up to ₹75,000, with items adding to about ₹78,000, so ask which combine
Maruti Baleno Facelift launched 5 September; no offers found
Tata Punch No offer found on petrol or CNG; Punch EV up to ₹1.45 lakh
Hyundai Exter Up to ₹50,000; old and updated units may both be on sale
Tata Nexon Up to ₹75,000 on select petrol manuals, ₹60,000 on CNG, ₹20,000 on diesel
Maruti Brezza Facelift launched 24 July from about ₹7.40 lakh; no offer found
Mahindra XUV 3XO Up to ₹60,000 on petrol trims, less on diesel
Hyundai Creta Up to ₹1.15 lakh, ₹1.25 lakh on the N Line, valid to 31 October; diesel only about ₹10,000
Maruti Grand Vitara Up to ₹1.36 lakh on the Sigma petrol; strong hybrid has zero road tax plus up to ₹1.20 lakh
Kia Carens Clavis Up to ₹95,000 on petrol and diesel, not CNG

For the Swift and Ertiga we found no October offer, so ask your dealer. Our guides to Maruti Nexa discounts and the Nexon have the detail for those cars, and the Autocar India Nexon report and the Clavis report are the sources for those two.

What has changed since our video

  • Baleno: the video said to wait for the facelift. It launched on 5 September from ₹5.99 lakh with a new engine and Level 2 ADAS, so the wait is over, but it has no discount.
  • Brezza: the facelift has been on sale since 24 July, so the “peace-of-mind” pick is a new car with a 1.0-litre turbo and a new screen.
  • Duster Hybrid: the video said to wait for pricing, and that is still sensible. The price and launch come on 17 October, but Renault says the 2026 allocation is already sold out, with deliveries in 2027. We cover it in our Duster Hybrid guide.
  • Punch and Exter: both are facelifts from January and March 2026, so check which version a dealer quotes.
  • Hyundai Bayon: a new SUV launches on 26 October, and some commentators expect Creta and Venue offers afterwards, but we could not verify that.

Does booking lock the price?

Generally not. In India the price at delivery or billing normally applies, unless the maker announces price protection tied to a cut-off date. Tata, for example, moved from the booking date to the billing date in 2021. We found no 2026 policy, and the Tata September hike article says nothing about protection. So ask the dealer to confirm in writing, before you pay a token, which price applies.

Getting a better deal from the dealer

Support for these tips is weak, since it comes from insurer and broker blogs and Team-BHP and not from the major car sites, so treat them as common practice:

  • Ask for an itemised written on-road quote for the exact variant and colour.
  • Get quotes from two or three dealers.
  • Negotiate each component, because insurance and accessories are the easiest places to save.
  • Check that logistics or pre-delivery charges are billed on a separate invoice.
  • Skip the extended warranty and accessories you do not need.
  • Compare the loan rate offered with your bank’s.

The video’s tip of asking “without exchange, what is my final on-road price” is sound, because the headline “up to” figure often depends on an exchange car.

A note on our video

Our video was posted on 22 August and parts of it are outdated. It said the Baleno facelift was expected, which is now launched, and it listed the Brezza without the facelift. It did not mention the Punch and Exter facelifts. We described a “Grand Vitara benefits” figure, but the current benefits are mostly exchange, scrappage and road-tax waivers on the hybrid, and not all cash. The September price-rise warning was correct. Several of the picks are opinions, such as the Swift for budget buyers and the Clavis as the premium seven-seater, and we have not checked them against a test.

Diwali 2026 car offers: should you buy now or wait?

Buy now if you have a specific car, a dealer confirms the offer in writing and the offer ends on 31 October. Wait if a model you want is days from pricing, such as the Duster Hybrid on 17 October or the Hyundai Bayon on 26 October. We have not tested these cars, and this page uses published offer reports as of 14 October, so recheck near the time you buy. Watch the full video for our shortlist, and see the videos page and car news.

Diwali 2026 car offers FAQs

When is Diwali 2026?

Sunday 8 November 2026, with Dhanteras on Friday 6 November and Dussehra on 20 October.

Are car prices going up before Diwali?

Prices already rose at Maruti, Tata, Hyundai and Mahindra between July and September. We found no November price rise announced by any brand.

Does booking a car lock the price?

Usually not. The price at delivery or billing normally applies, unless the maker announces protection. Ask for it in writing.

Which cars have the biggest Diwali discounts?

The Grand Vitara Sigma (up to ₹1.36 lakh), the Creta (up to ₹1.15 lakh), the Carens Clavis (up to ₹95,000) and the Nexon petrol manual (up to ₹75,000) have among the biggest reported maximums, and much of each is exchange and other non-cash benefit.

Should I wait for the Duster Hybrid?

Wait for the 17 October price if you want a strong hybrid, but Renault says the 2026 allocation is sold out and deliveries are in 2027.

Diwali car offers are real but mostly “up to” figures that depend on an exchange, so get a written on-road quote before 31 October and compare it across dealers.
